In Istanbul, Turkey more than 1,500 sheep jumped off a cliff as the shepherds watched in horror. They sat down to have breakfast and let the sheep graze as they did so. Initially, just one sheep jumped off the cliff. They then witnessed one after the other follow each other off the cliff without being able to stop them.

The reason this happened is because sheep have a strong instinct to follow the sheep in front of them. When one sheep decides to go somewhere, the rest of the flock  follows, even if it is not a good “decision.” It seems that even from birth, they are conditioned to follow the older members of the flock.

Sheep see their group as safety from predators and are very social by nature. Unfortunately, they are also easily led astray.

FX3™ Challenge:

Pray:

Read and meditate on Psalm 119:176. What does this verse tell you?

Pray:

Who or what have you been following? What has been the result?

Meditate / Make It Real:

What will you do today to start following the good shepherd’s voice? How can this save you from heading “off the cliff”
