A couple of years ago, I received an invitation to pitch a new project. The project was to develop a new website for a luxurious waterfront condominium located on Miami’s Biscayne Boulevard. Constructed in 2007, the Marquis Residences boasts 67 stories and stands at 679 feet above sea level. At the time, it was the fifth tallest building in Miami. This “Crown Jewel of Miami” offers unparalleled views of the Atlantic Ocean, Biscayne Bay, and Miami Beach skyline because of its location. Designed by world-renowned architecture firm Arquitectonica, the Marquis has won multiple awards in various industry categories.

Although not expansive, the lobby is very luxurious, with every detail taken into consideration. For instance, even the air in the valet parking entrance is scented. On the walls hang collectible artworks, marble walls run from the floor up to 20-foot ceilings, and the elevators open up right up to individual residences. After checking at the front desk, a concierge cordially escorted me to the meeting area.

At the office I met the courteous management staff and the board of directors’ president. He elaborated on the quality, lifestyle, and expectation of residents on what it meant to live at the Marquis. An owner himself, he elaborated on why he chose this building over many others in the area. He cited the “spectacular views” from his balcony and the ability for him to see across the bay to Miami Beach. By the same token, others could also see the building from the other side.

“You know what’s most impressive about this building?” he asked. “It’s the twenty-foot color changing led light which sits at the top corner of the building. It can be seen from miles away and makes us distinctly recognizable. We are known as that building, and we want everyone to know who we are.” He then further elaborated that it was the light that would be the main focus of whatever design and communications we created. The purpose was to draw attention and interest so that others would want to live there as well.

This experience reminds me of how we are also to be a light to the world so that others desire to know more. We’re to let our light shine as a testament of our faith and invitation for others to get to know Christ the way we do. Today take the time to be deliberate on how to do this.

Daily Directive:

Answer and Journal the Following

Read:

Matthew 5:14-16.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Pray:

Pray and ask for God to help on how to let your light shine.
