Mully is an inspiring documentary about Charles Mully, a one-time orphan on the streets of Kenya. The documentary, narrated by Mully, takes us through his rags-to-riches story of how he came up to become a Kenyan business tycoon. In this film, he shares how he went from begging for food to owning multiple businesses, traveling the world, and making more money than he ever imagined.
As he shares his life journey, there comes a point in his life when God convicts him to help other orphans like himself. He believes God is calling him to do the seemingly impossible. What ensues is a wave of changes not only to his life but also to his family. Initially shocked by his decision, the family is unhappy and skeptical. In addition, many long-time friends and his local church turn their back on him and his quest.
He eventually founds the Mully Children’s Family, which becomes the largest children’s rescue, rehabilitation, and development organization in Africa. This documentary inspires anyone to see how much difference one person makes when faithful to God. It’s also a story of how a sacrifice by one person can bring life to countless others.
Mully and his life remind me of how Jesus also made the ultimate sacrifice long ago for us. He gave up his life so that we could live with Him eternally. All he asks in return is to believe in Him to clean us of our sin and then to obey His word. This obedience calls for us also to sacrifice ourselves to save others. We may not be asked to do what Mully did, but we should be ready to do so if asked.
