Years ago I heard the great “Make Your Bed” commencement speech by Admiral William H. McRaven. In his speech he claims that if you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. This in turn will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another. By the end of the day, that one completed task will have turned into many tasks completed.

He also goes on to say that making your bed will also reinforce the importance that the little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you will never do the big things right. I’d like to further add to this by saying you need to “Make up your mind, before you make your bed”. This means even before making your bed, you need to decide the kind of man you want to be.

Every morning before I get out of my bed I pray for Jesus to “Make me the man He’s destined me to be and use me to accomplish His will for His glory”.  Setting my mind on things above sets me up for success on things below.
