Growing up, it never crossed my mind my toys would ever be worth more than what they cost at the time. I remember the joy of Christmas when I opened the box and immediately started playing with them.

Over time, some of these toys broke or got lost. Some were given away or lost to time. The other day out of curiosity, I decided to research some of them and see if I could repurchase some memories.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a few of them on auction sites. However, my joy turned to disappointment when I saw how much they were asking for them. Some were in the hundreds while some in the thousands of dollars. I then decided they would stay as cherished memories. Sadder than this was discovering that many of the toys were sealed for almost 30 years, never enjoyed.

The fact they were more valuable today because they were never played with is the complete opposite of the beautiful gift of the bible. God’s word was given to us to be enjoyed, savored, and thoroughly consumed every day.
