There’s currently a trend online whereby people are emulating or copying individual celebrity fitness or health routines. The idea is to take what a celebrity has shared publicly and copy that program exactly. These Youtubers then chronicle their journey.

This morning I read an article about a Youtuber that copied Mark Wahlberg’s daily fitness routine. The routine calls for him to start his day at 2:30 am to pray; he then adheres to particular eating plans and exercise routines all before 10:30 am. Afterward, there’s recreational free time and after that some work. All the while, maintaining a particular meal plan.

After a 24 hour cycle, the Youtuber fell exhausted. He decided he was going to make adjustments in his life but couldn’t follow Mark’s demanding and restrictive schedule.

His story reminds us that although physical training is good, spiritual practice must also be an integral element in our lives. For this, there’s no better person to follow and emulate than Jesus Christ. Although many times we may feel we fall short of His standard, he reminds us we’re never on our own.

He’s always there to encourage us, lift us, and give us the strength to accomplish the impossible.
