The bike shook side to side and wiggled like crazy as I tried keeping my balance. My little knuckles were white from the death-like grip I had on the handlebars. What’s worse, my feet kept slipping off the pedals resulting in sharp pain as my shin hit the hard metal. The training wheels were off, and it was now time I learned to ride on my own.

Tired and frustrated, I remember focusing only on my pedaling. As a result, I took my eyes off the road and eventually found myself skidding off the pavement and into the dirt. Banged up and a little bloodied, I got back on the bike, but this time, I focused on the road ahead.

Eventually, I learned to ride a bike. As a kid, learning to ride a bike gave me an exhilarating sense of freedom but it came after I started looking up and ahead.

Where and to who do you turn to when life gets shaky and unpredictable?
