The GPS and chart you need for your life.

As we finished our lunch, I asked my bud about his boat. “So, did you ever sell that boat?” I asked. “I did and got a great deal on another used one. It’s a bit smaller but so much better,” he said. “What do you mean?” I asked.

He then recounted the boat’s engine size, deck, and other features. Suddenly his face lit up. “You know what the best part of this boat is?” he asked me with a smirk. “Nope,” I replied. “It’s the GPS navigation system. This thing is fully loaded with charts, and since he used this boat for his charter business, the best fishing spots in the area!”

For those unfamiliar with GPS or marine navigation systems on boats, these devices can be highly effective and multi-useful. Depending on the system, they can provide a ton of helpful information for the boat captain. For example, some can scan the sea floor for fish, provide depth readings, record and plot areas of interest, and other advantages.

However, GPS functionality is the most crucial reason for having a marine navigation system. GPS provides the fastest and most accurate method for mariners to navigate, measure speed, and determine location. An effective GPS on your boat will help you know with certainty where you’re going and how to get there.

Marine GPS systems also overlay onto nautical charts that provide critical information on depth and potential hazards to avoid. This combination of using GPS and nautical charts can prove lifesaving for the captain and their passengers.

This story is an excellent reminder of how the Bible does the same for us. Scripture gives us guidance and direction to avoid hazards and, most importantly, how to reach the desired destination. The Bible is the GPS and chart you need for your life.
