We Need Meat Not Milk.

Over the years, there’s been much talk about the importance of breastmilk for babies. Although the debates sometimes seem to go on, there’s no denying that a mother’s milk is best during a child’s developmental year. According to research, breast milk has many advantages and life-giving properties. For one, it provides all the nutrients babies need for the first six months. Breast milk also protects babies against diseases as it contains antibodies that help babies fight viruses and bacteria. Research also shows that a mother’s milk reduces the baby’s risk of having upper respiratory problems or allergies. In addition, breastfed babies have fewer intestinal infections. A mother’s milk is also rich in nutrients, all essential to a baby’s development.

What’s most impressive is that a mother’s milk is perfectly balanced for what the baby needs. Breast milk contains approximately 60 percent whey protein and 40 percent casein. It turns out that this balance of proteins is ideal for quick and easy digestion. It also contains essential fats necessary for brain development, absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, and the right amount of calories a baby needs. In essence, a mother’s milk provides the baby everything he or she needs to help them develop and protect them.

However, despite all of the incredible benefits of a mother’s milk, eventually, a baby’s body requires more as they develop. After about six months, a baby begins to need higher levels of certain nutrients – such as iron, zinc, and vitamins B and D. Unfortunately, they can’t get that from a mother’s milk. As a result, that baby needs to start weaning off the milk and onto solid food. Scripture tells us we must do the same. Men, we too must wean ourselves off the spiritual milk and begin eating the spiritual meat. It’s time we gave our souls the spiritual nutrition it needs.

Read:

1 Corinthians 3:1-3
But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, 3 for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?

Pray:

Pray for the Spirit to give you a desire for a deeper and richer understanding of God and his word.
