As election day draws near, many opinions and stories are flooding the airwaves and the internet. Everyone has a point of view and believe theirs is the correct one. After hearing so many opposing viewpoints, everyone starts to wonder who’s telling the truth because everyone claims they are.

I realized this when the other day, when our neighbor texted my wife recounting her experience at a presidential rally the night before. She went into detail about how the night unfolded and, through sheer coincidence, ended up on television, and eventually, she and her friend went viral on the internet. Our neighbor then told her to search for the incident online.

Sure enough, within a matter of hours, everyone had an opinion on what occurred that night. A plethora of theories emerged, ranging from possible to outright crazy. The amazing part of all of this was how biased the opinion was depending on which side you stood. The reality, however, was that none was accurate.

My neighbors’ story reminds me of how many of us develop ideas and theories about how we should live our lives. We sometimes base it on how we feel, what others say, or what’s most convenient for us. We live in an age of relativism. Relativism assumes all truth is “relative,” or that all points of view are equally valid because there is no “absolute” truth.

In actuality, there is a definitive source of how we should live our lives, the Bible. The Bible is God’s explicit instructions for us. It’s the authoritative source of truth for a fulfilling and productive life.
